　　佳宇打算去北京阻止父母離婚。被佳宇救助的鄧凱幫他籌錢。父母回村辦離婚，佳宇被鄧凱假綁架，反被傳銷分子利用敲詐佳宇父母，父母報警，佳宇被救。佳宇在景區(qū)招商匯演時表演當年父親失敗的魔術，挽留父母。

　　因忍受不了男友Moses（任賢齊）的平凡，阿Mi狠心與他分手，塞翁失馬焉知禍福，Moses在老人院做義工時，與怪脾氣老頭蛤蚧王成為忘年之交，后者死后，給他留下巨額遺產(chǎn)。蛤蚧王的此舉招致其律師Allen的不滿，他在夜總會發(fā)泄時無意中將此事告訴了小姐Didi（張柏芝）。　　為將Moses釣到手，Didi使出渾身解數(shù)，無奈均不奏效。發(fā)現(xiàn)Moses是絕種好男人后，Didi對他動了真心，兩人開始熱戀，不久，Allen將Didi的原來身份相告Moses，令他異常傷心，此時，阿Mi又前來要與他復合。

　　死于東京皇家飯店電梯里的美國黑人青年被人發(fā)現(xiàn)后，警方展開調(diào)查，從死者遺物中，知曉其名叫焦尼，并推斷其來日目的是為找尋生母。根據(jù)種種線索，警方來到某溫泉，發(fā)現(xiàn)知情人已被殺害，但還是知曉了知名服裝設計師八杉恭子（岡田茉莉子）當年曾與一美國黑人士兵在此同居之事，遂派警官棟居（松田優(yōu)作）前去美國向紐約警察肖夫坦（喬治?肯尼迪）求證。　　求證過程中，棟居陷入歷史記憶與民族情結(jié)中，幾欲將眼前的美國人尤其肖夫坦與當年在日本犯下罪行的劊子手混為一談，但終回復理智完成了任務，將八杉恭子圈定為兇手，而八杉恭子不過也是歷史的受害者。
