在烏克蘭的單親媽媽奧爾加（Ekateryna暫無內容Rak暫無內容飾）不滿在醫院的低薪工作，到了奧地利尋求更好的生活可能性，她做色情視頻女郎，又到富人家當保姆，在清潔公司也工作過，生活始終顛沛，遭遇了各種波折。奧爾加去醫院做清潔工，她所打掃的病房住的都是老人。在生命末端的老人和處于生活邊緣的奧爾加都是孤獨且絕望的。與此同時，奧地利的年輕人保羅（Paul暫無內容Hofmann暫無內容飾）在國內活的十分辛苦，為了狗他和女朋友決裂，又被人追著索要欠債，保羅身無分文，遭人毆打和戲弄。走投無路的保羅前往烏克蘭。在賓館昏暗的房間里，保羅看著繼父繞有興趣的和妓女逗樂，對此他毫無興趣，只想著錢的事......

But Soriya’s waking hours in the apartment and its surroundings are punctuated by terrifying, bloody visions, almost as though she were a conduit for horrors of the past wanting to seep into the present. Inrasothythep Neth and Sokyou Chea’s blood-chilling psychological horror explores a personal and political past through the present, transforming a characterful space into an insidious environment. Surrounded by modern high-rises, this decrepit structure, with its brutalist architecture and peeling surfaces, is a relic from a dark period in history whose painful memories it has absorbed. In tracing Soriya’s ominous journey back to her roots, Tenement hints at a necessary reckoning with Cambodia’s political past without overplaying its historical dimension. It’s an impressive work from a woefully underrepresented national cinema.
