Ay?e, Ali, Mehmet and Zeynep are middle-class millennials struggling to make ends meet in Istanbul. Either still living with their parents or hardly getting by without help from their families, they are all beset by similar woes: money crunch, joblessness, social isolation. In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night. 　　However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. 　　Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble. 　　香港警察朱福龍（甄子丹 飾）因一次工作失誤慘被降級，萬般無奈之際又遭未婚妻可兒（周勵淇 飾）悔婚，事業愛情的雙重打擊令他一蹶不振，暴飲暴食六個月后體重猛增到220磅！上司黃警官不忍其繼續墮落，委派朱福龍前往日本押送一名犯人，并承諾只要完成任務就可以為他恢復職位。可惜來到日本，倒霉的事件便接連在他身上發生，不僅財物盡失，連犯人也在押送途中逃脫了。幸好得到前香港警察瀟灑哥（王晶 飾）的幫助才得以暫時解困，為了完成任務找回犯人，朱福龍與瀟灑哥共同行動，不料在查找真相的過程中發現了日本黑幫的驚天陰謀......

　　西蒙（凱德·麥拉德 Kad Merad 飾）曾是一名非常有名的小提琴演奏家，對這項樂器充滿了熱情與喜愛，可是如今，他卻現身巴黎的一所初中之中，成為了那里的一群六年級孩子們的小提琴老師。西蒙對待音樂的態度非常的嚴肅，他自己的個性也十分不茍言笑，因此無法和班上的孩子們打成一片，孩子們在調皮搗蛋的同時也非常懼怕這位老師。　　阿諾（艾爾弗雷德·雷利 Alfred Renely 飾）是一個非常害羞的男孩，和班上的其他孩子不同，他對待小提琴有著和西蒙一樣的熱愛。阿諾的憧憬漸漸點燃了西蒙內心里快要熄滅的火焰，在阿諾的影響下，西蒙找到了人生新的方向。
