　　哈瑞（杰瑞德·萊托 Jared Leto 飾）和瑪麗安（詹妮弗·康納利 Jennifer Connelly 飾）彼此相愛，夢想著開個服裝店，夢想著有個美好的明天。然而他們都離不開毒品，并想著以銷毒賺得第一桶金。哈瑞的母親是個徹底的電視迷，最大的夢想是上電視，為此不顧年邁吞食減肥藥。由于藥品里的毒品成分，她漸漸上了癮。哈瑞的朋友狄龍（馬龍·韋恩斯 Marlon Wayans 飾）同樣是個癮君子，為了掙大錢加入了黑社會。為了夢想，他們努力著，卻一步步深陷毒品難以自拔。 哈瑞的胳膊因注射毒品感染而被割去；瑪麗安為了毒品出賣肉體和自尊；哈瑞的母親最終住進了精神病院受盡折磨；狄龍鋃鐺入獄。當(dāng)視線變得模糊，夢在遙遠處呼喚，迷失的人該以怎樣的姿態(tài)安撫自己的靈魂。

Ay?e, Ali, Mehmet and Zeynep are middle-class millennials struggling to make ends meet in Istanbul. Either still living with their parents or hardly getting by without help from their families, they are all beset by similar woes: money crunch, joblessness, social isolation. In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night. 　　However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. 　　Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble.
