一場(chǎng)車禍奪去了兩個(gè)動(dòng)物學(xué)家兄弟的妻子，隨后，他們一邊迷戀著那個(gè)在車禍中失去一條腿的女人，一邊用攝影機(jī)記錄各種動(dòng)物尸體腐爛的過程。在影片靜態(tài)的畫面中，那些鱷魚、小狗、天鵝、斑馬的尸體一點(diǎn)點(diǎn)地變黑、干癟、噴出腐水、爬出蛆蟲。最終，女人那條剩下的腿也;漸漸死去、被截除，她在生下一對(duì)屬于兩兄弟的雙胞胎之后死去。兩兄弟則在鏡頭前注射毒劑，把自己的尸體作為最后一種研究和展示對(duì)象。
