Ay?e, Ali, Mehmet and Zeynep are middle-class millennials struggling to make ends meet in Istanbul. Either still living with their parents or hardly getting by without help from their families, they are all beset by similar woes: money crunch, joblessness, social isolation. In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night. However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble. 在網絡監查科兼職的大學生俊赫,為了和生氣的女友世熙(樸寶英 飾)重歸于好,轉而求助于女友的妹妹——高中女孩靜美。靜美是一個沉迷以來網絡的時尚女孩,她答應幫助俊赫,條件是俊赫能幫她找一些網上封禁的稀奇古怪的視頻。萬般無奈,俊赫只得幫忙尋找,誰知卻意外下載到一段詭異的視頻。這段視頻每次的文件名每次都會改變,每次打開后也會呈現不同的內容,甚至在看完之前都無法關閉。倒霉的靜美似乎恰恰碰上了那個傳說中的詛咒視頻,在此之后,她的周圍接連發生詭異事件。 網絡時代帶來便利,也衍生了假象與罪惡,通往地獄的大門慢慢開啟……
