民初時(shí)代國家動蕩不安,軍閥割據(jù)導(dǎo)致民不聊生。曹云(林青霞飾)是大軍閥曹將軍的女兒,也是一個(gè)愛國者。但是不愿見到父親幫助袁世凱以國家的名義向外國銀行借貸巨款,讓國家的財(cái)務(wù)更雪上加霜,于是偷偷與革命人士聯(lián)絡(luò)。但是一邊是國家,一邊是父親也讓曹云不知如何取舍而陷入內(nèi)心的掙扎。白妞(葉倩文飾)從小在戲班春和班長大,被戲班主的父親(午馬飾)當(dāng)作丫環(huán)使,癡迷唱戲的她一直希望登臺表演,卻沒有機(jī)會;湘紅(鐘楚紅飾)是一位貪財(cái)?shù)母杓耍媚耻婇y逃跑時(shí)偷走其家中一大箱珠寶,卻誤打誤撞讓珠寶運(yùn)進(jìn)了春和班里。這三位在姻緣巧合下結(jié)識,透過這三位主角的生命交錯(cuò),共同譜出一段愛國傳奇......
啄木鳥和雨
寧靜的山村進(jìn)入雨季。村中的老伐木工人岸克彥(役所廣司 飾)為人古板,與兒子關(guān)系緊張。他在上工途中給東京來的新人導(dǎo)演田邊幸一(小栗旬 飾)和副導(dǎo)演帶路,由此被拉入一部喪尸電影的外景拍攝。在被迫充當(dāng)臨時(shí)演員后,克彥竟對電影產(chǎn)生了微妙的興趣,他開始不請自來的幫助攝制組與村民溝通,開展工作,甚至忽略了本職與妻子的忌日。 突然闖入的攝制組擾亂了山村的平靜和克彥的生活,也改變了導(dǎo)演幸一自身。幸一生性靦腆缺乏自信,在攝制組中毫無威信。偶然間他發(fā)現(xiàn)自己的喪尸劇本竟為克彥所欣賞,不禁大受鼓舞,兩人在數(shù)次的泡澡時(shí)間里進(jìn)行了奇妙的溝通。在克彥的幫助下,幸一慢慢樹立了自信,電影拍攝也步入正軌。然而臨關(guān)機(jī)前的一場瓢潑大雨再次令拍攝陷入危機(jī),克彥的缺席也令幸一惶恐無措起來…… 影片獲第24屆東京國際電影節(jié)評委會大獎(jiǎng)。片中兩位主演役所廣司和小栗旬在現(xiàn)實(shí)中亦均擔(dān)任過導(dǎo)演。
等待方舟
Set in an underground dungeon inhabited by bundled, ragged human beings, after the nuclear holocaust. The story follows the wanderings of a hero through the situations of survival. People wait for the Ark to arrive and rescue them while their habitat falls apart. Delving deep into the dusty and long abandonded vaults of b-cinema in search of lost gems always leaves me with a bittersweet taste. On one hand the discovery of unexpected gems where no one would think them possible is a rewarding experience. On the other hand though it makes one wonder how many of these remarkable low-budget oddities, personal love affairs of directors never quite famous and now all but forgotten, have almost forever slipped from memory? n any case what we have here is a little post-apocalyptic gem from Poland that is really better than it has any right to. The dystopian near future of O-BI, O-BA finds a group of survivors of the nuclear war that ravaged the Earth inhabiting an underworld concrete bunker and biding their time as they wait for the mysterious Ark, an air ship of some kind that will come and save them. The Ark proves to be an elaborate hoax, carefully designed to give hope to the malnourished and desperate denizens of the bunker, while in the meantime the dome that separates their miserable existence from the nuclear winter outside is slowly caving in. What first striked me about the movie is the design of the bunker and the depiction of the survivors. The survivors are gaunt, filthy and terrible-looking penitents, dressed in rags and aimlessly wandering the neon-lit halls of the bunker like automatons. The bunker is a rundown, seedy place, with bright neon lights peering from all sides like the eyes of malignant beasts. On one hand it is a slightly 80's depiction of the dystopian future but the movie never stoops down to MAD MAX cheese. Instead it combines biting political satire with the bleak outlook of a world with no future, black comedy with barbs on apathy, religion and power. The survivors, for example, are fed some kind of flour dropping from a tube that hovers in the air - later on we discover the food supervisor uses books and the Bible itself as filler for this meagre meal. There are many such short symbolic touches, perhaps not life-changing or faith-restoring, yet playful, clever and inspired. One thing is for sure; O-BI, O-BA is not your run-of-the-mill sci-fi schlock. It overcomes its modest budget with creativity and has genuine artistic aspirations both from a writing and directing perspective. My opinion is that it should have been filmed in black and white instead of colour though. The director uses atmospheric light and shadow to great effect and it would have registered even better in stark black and white. The blue-green neon on the other hand outstays its welcome after a while. Just a minor gripe in an otherwise solid b-movie with its heart set in all the right places. Imagine a less bleak THE ROAD (Cormac McCarthy) being injected with the satire and humour of DR.STRANGELOVE and you're getting there. See it if you can find it.
