米歇爾?法爾蓋特（休?格蘭特 飾）經營一間拍賣行，他是個溫和的英國人，拍賣行的生意一向很好。他感覺成家的時候到了，便向他最愛的女友吉娜（詹姆斯?凱恩 飾）結婚。可是吉娜對結婚一詞十分抗拒，她不愿意跟米歇爾結婚。這樣使米歇爾疑惑極了，他認為女友是十分愛自己的，為何不能從此一同生活呢？ 直到后來，他才明白了吉娜的苦心。原來吉娜的父親是一名黑幫老大，深愛著米歇爾的吉娜不愿自己的丈夫被卷進復雜的黑幫環境中。就算米歇爾向吉娜保證自己不會牽涉進去那些麻煩當中。 可是事情并不如人意，他還是因為這個黑幫岳父惹來了很多麻煩，甚至被警察調查。從此，米歇爾也莫名其妙的成為了黑道中人……

Ay?e, Ali, Mehmet and Zeynep are middle-class millennials struggling to make ends meet in Istanbul. Either still living with their parents or hardly getting by without help from their families, they are all beset by similar woes: money crunch, joblessness, social isolation. In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night. However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble.
