俠士朱仲(黃德斌 飾)四方云游,被指腹為婚的未婚妻柳絲絲一路相隨。二人經(jīng)過一座古廟,遇到古廟內(nèi)一個“燈草和尚”(成奎安 飾)——他能把自己的身體縮成燈草大小。朱仲與他相當(dāng)投契,兩人隨即結(jié)為好友。是夜,朱仲發(fā)現(xiàn)古廟里一幅壁畫,畫中三個絕世美人翩翩起舞,如夢似幻,朱仲當(dāng)即神魂顛倒,求燈草和尚助他入畫,見壁畫美人一面。燈草和尚禁不住朱仲的哀求,再三囑咐后出手幫助。朱仲入畫后,果真見到了畫中美人綺夢(陳寶蓮 飾)及其兩個妹妹春夢、玉夢。朱仲與綺夢一夜銷魂后,得知她的身世,還知道此事背后的陰謀。后來朱仲為綺夢所救,幾經(jīng)辛苦終于出畫。他卻決定回到畫中,救出綺夢……

  Following her mother’s death, manga artist Soriya travels to her ancestral home in Phnom Penh, with hopes of reconnecting with her distant family and using the visit as inspiration for her work. All goes well initially. Renting an apartment in Metta, a rundown Khmer Rouge-era housing complex, her visit to her maternal relatives finds her welcomed with open arms. But Soriya’s waking hours in the apartment and its surroundings are punctuated by terrifying, bloody visions, almost as though she were a conduit for horrors of the past wanting to seep into the present.  Inrasothythep Neth and Sokyou Chea’s blood-chilling psychological horror explores a personal and political past through the present, transforming a characterful space into an insidious environment. Surrounded by modern high-rises, this decrepit structure, with its brutalist architecture and peeling surfaces, is a relic from a dark period in history whose painful memories it has absorbed. In tracing Soriya’s ominous journey back to her roots, Tenement hints at a necessary reckoning with Cambodia’s political past without overplaying its historical dimension. It’s an impressive work from a woefully underrepresented national cinema.
