1987年初，中朝邊境圖們。郵遞員曉軍去郵局拿信件，之后來到余虹父親開的雜貨鋪。余虹打開信件，發現自己被北京的“北清大學”錄取。余虹在一個籃球場與曉軍見面，曉軍與幾個打籃球的人發生爭執，被打得鼻青臉腫。晚上在草叢中，余虹與曉軍發生了性行為。
